A 39-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter have found themselves in internet fodder after a viral video captured them fighting Spirit Airlines employees.
The melee took place at Philadelphia International Airport last week after the airline said the mother and daughter would have to pay an extra fee because their carry-on luggage exceeded the weight they could allow on the plane, according to Daily Mail.
The news was enough to send the duo into a full-on rage. In the video, the pair, who were heading to Fort Lauderdale, is seen brawling with the airline’s employees at the gate’s entrance leading passengers onto the plane.
In the video, it appears the pugnacious twosome is with a young boy, who helplessly flees the scene to call for security as the fighting ensues. The boy then returns and attacks an agent before running away in tears.
The battle soon ends with one employee yelling “she hit me first!”
But things don’t end there. The woman then proceeds to take off her shirt in rattled bewilderment. A bystander is heard saying “Where the f*ck is security?”
As the video comes to an end, an employee snatches the wig off of the mother’s head.
Following the ordeal, the Philadelphia Police Department released a statement acknowledging that they were made aware of the fight but no arrests were made. One employee, however, suffered a minor injury with a gash above the eye.
“Several passengers were pulling apart a 24-year-old female complainant and a 17-year-old female along with her 39-year-old mother during an argument over additional baggage fees,” the statement reads. “At this time, the 17-year-old female attempted to access Jetway and was halted by the 24-year-old complainant when she was punched/hair pulled by the 17-year-old female being assisted by her 39-year-old mother.”
The statement continues: “All participants were advised by police in reference to private criminal complaint documentation.”
