19-year-old Chicago-based singer and songwriter Ravyn Lenae recently sat down with Fuse TV. As she prepares to drop her new EP – just in time for your Valentine’s Day feels, she gets into a little girl chat Fuse. In the interview, she discusses her new EP titled Crush, her close relationship with Noname, touring with SZA, and how she channels Beyonce’s confidence before each performance.
Speaking of SZA’s influence, she said:
“[SZA] being a singer really helped me investigate my performing abilities and things I may need to change. So seeing her show every night really kind of put me in the place of a student.”
Crush, which is out now, is a 5-track project produced entirely by The Internet‘s Steve Lacy. Outside of his work with The Internet, he can be heard on albums such as J. Cole‘s 4 Your Eyez Only and Kendrick Lamar‘s Grammy-award-winning album, DAMN.
Since it’s release, Crush has received nothing but positive reviews from online music critics. The chemistry between her and Lacy undeniable, Crush is being cited as the project to put the rising star firmly on the map. Lanae’s work ethic and gimmick-less charm are irresistible.
