From the very beginning of her time on the “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Kenya Moore made one thing very clear—she wanted a family.
Over the years, viewers have watched her try to make several relationships work, and they all ended abruptly.
When Kenya announced she had married restauranteur Marc Daly and that she was expecting a child, her fans could not have been happier for her…until they saw Marc’s dismissive and detached treatment of her on the show. Kenya sat by almost silently as he, on several occasions, mocked and humiliated her in front of her cast members.
The couple were wed in 2019 and Kenya would file for divorce nearly two years later.
“The season was about me just coming into my own, reclaiming who I was before the divorce,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s just fun, lighthearted, reclaiming my power. I think that I lost a lot of that during my divorce and my marriage. I feel like I had to just take inventory of myself and figure out where did I go wrong. Now that I’ve figured it out, it’s just back to being me.”
“I think where I went wrong in my marriage is that I lost my voice, is that I thought that I had to be a different kind of person to make a marriage work. Someone that says ‘yes’ and doesn’t speak up and just goes along to get along. And that is completely false,” she continued.
Kenya said she was initially afraid to file for divorce because she did not want her family to be destroyed because of her. She then came to the conclusion that staying in a marriage that was making her miserable was not an example of strength for her daughter.
Kenya is still waiting for a judge to finalize the divorce.
“I’m still waiting, still don’t have that stamp. He refuses to talk to me about a settlement. Child care and support and visitation, all of that’s been settled already. So the only thing left is [money].”
