‘RHOSLC’s Mary Cosby Apologizes for ‘Mexican Thug’ Comment

“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Mary Cosby has responded to accusations of racism after inflammatory comments she made while speaking to castmates Heather Gay and Jen Shah.

Mary was upset with some of the other Housewives for spreading rumors about her church. The whispers are that Mary runs a church and that her flock sees her as a “God.”

Mary denied the rumors and as the ladies piled on the pressure, Mary lashed out at Heather for fanning the flames.

“It’s not fair to put me with someone so … like, when I think about Jen, I see heartless, I see a thug,” she said. “Like, you know, those Mexican people that make all those drugs.”

Of course, social media had a field day.

“Mary called Heather “chubby” and then referred to Jen as a “thug” and a “Mexican person who makes drugs.” Let’s keep the same energy, @BravoTV, for everyone around. If a housewife is prejudice or racist, no matter the race, they need to be fired. #RHOSLC,” a viewer tweeted.

“So we’re just gonna brush over @Mary_M_Cosby racist Mexican comment? And her fat shaming Heather? #RHOSLC,” another wrote.

Mary was quick to issue an apology:

“I would like to take this opportunity to address a comment I made on the last episode of RHOSLC. I used poor judgment in my choice of words,” Mary wrote on her Instagram. “Please accept my apologies. I was not trying to single out the Mexican culture. I am African American and I know racism firsthand. I’ve lived it daily my entire life. It is important to me that you hear this apology directly from me. My comment was reckless. Unintentional. I am truly sorry!”

Mary expressed her frustrations over being compared to castmate Jen Shah, who is accused of running a nationwide wire fraud empire.
