Former “Basketball Wives” star Tami Roman has weighed in on show executive and star Shaunie O’Neal having a much smaller role on the show when it returns next year.
During a recent interview, Tami spoke about Shaunie taking more of a backseat — something Tami has spoken about before.
“In any type of business structure, it’s like you can’t go to your job, Gary, and curse out the d—n supervisor. You can’t do that. And because she opted to be a cast member on the show. that’s where the confusion came in where people felt like well maybe I can’t say what I wanna say because she’s a cast member. And she’s one of the EPs so that’s where it got a little convoluted,” she told Gary With Da Tea.
For me, I just was like, well this is what I wanna say and I’m gonna say it and we’ll deal with whatever the repercussions are after that, but I gotta get this off my chest,” she continued. “I read articles and stories where this new season that’s coming up she’s in a minimized capacity as a cast member. So that will allow the girls a lot of freedom to be able to interact amongst each other and really make the show good for the people who choose to watch it.”
Viewers have often believed Shaunie having such a major role on the show directly influences the behaviors of her co-stars. Viewers also felt that it enabled Shaunie to dictate the storylines and that she had shown favoritism and bias towards certain cast members.
Shaunie denied the claims during an interview with BOSSIP.
“Wearing both hats as an executive producer and a cast member, and actually a third hat as a friend, has probably been one of the hardest things I’ve done over the last 11 years of doing this show,” she told BOSSIP. “It’s hard to film with people that you know personally and know so well.”
