When 16-year-old Torri’ell Norwood earned her CPR certification at Lakewood High School in Florida, she never imagined she’d need to use it just one day later.
But thanks to her quick thinking and life-saving skills, she rescued her best friend in a moment of crisis, proving that true friendship knows no bounds.
Torri’ell, a student in her school’s Athletic Lifestyle Management Academy, had just completed her CPR training when an ordinary drive with friends took a terrifying turn.

This story breaks in 2021 when Torri’ell and her closest friend, A’zarria Simmons, were involved in a serious car accident that left her friend unconscious.
With no time to waste, Torri’ell sprang into action, pulling her friend from the wreckage and performing CPR until paramedics arrived.
“It’s just one of the most amazing things,” her instructor, Erika Miller, who was overwhelmed with pride told CNN. “As a teacher, we hope all the time that somebody’s listening, paying attention, that they can find a way to take what they’ve learned in class into the real world.”
Torri’ell’s heroism has not only saved a life but also strengthened an unbreakable bond between the two friends. Commenters online praised the young woman’s courage and the power of their friendship.

One person wrote:
“Sisterhood in friendship is so important. I hope these young ladies are friends forever after sharing an experience like that together.”
Another added:
“That’s a friend indeed. Cherish the friendship.”
Her actions have inspired many to recognize the importance of CPR training, emphasizing how a simple skill can mean the difference between life and death.
As Torri’ell continues on her path toward a career in health sciences, there’s no doubt that her future—and her friendship—are brighter than ever.
