Tennis star Sloane Stephens has tied the knot with soccer player Jozy Altidore.
The couple shared a photo of their intimate nuptials on their Instagram accounts.
After a two-year engagement, Stephens said “I do” at the St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami Beach, Florida, per People.
The couple were also mindful of the ongoing pandemic and ensured the event was safe for all attendees.
All guests were required to be fully vaccinated, self-test at home with Lucira PCR tests before arriving in Florida. They then had to be PCR tested on the morning of the wedding.
“I empathize with all the COVID couples out there who have had to make the tough calls and be flexible with the ever-changing pandemic,” Stephens told the publication. “We’ve all had to be super flexible, and I appreciate how accommodating our loved ones have been in making sure we have as safe and special a day as possible.”
The tennis star recently spoke out against online bullying after she lost her match against Angelique Kerber in the third round of the US Open in September.
“I am human, after last night’s match I got 2k+ messages of abuse/anger from people upset by yesterday’s result,” she wrote on Instagram Story. “It’s so hard to read messages like these, but I’ll post a few so you guys can see what it’s like after a loss…”
Speaking to People in August, she opened up about how she deals with online harassment.
“They might talk about me for a few days and then it’ll be on to something else. And kind of like realizing that my life, my choices and my decisions shouldn’t be based on other people’s feelings and how they interpret what they think what’s happened,” she told the publication.
