A 26-year-old woman who was reported missing earlier this week has been found dead inside a suitcase off the Saw Mill River Parkway, near the border of Yonkers and the Bronx.

Pamela Alcantara was last seen around 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, at her home on Morris Avenue in the Bronx. Family members reported her missing after she failed to show up for church later that day.

Her body was discovered four days later, on Thursday, March 6, along the northbound side of the parkway near the Palmer Road exit.

Authorities are questioning Alcantara’s ex-boyfriend, who is currently in custody at the NYPD’s 46th precinct, though no charges have been filed.

Family members say Alcantara was in the process of moving out of the home she shared with her boyfriend of three years. Surveillance footage shows her entering her Morris Avenue home while on the phone with her mother, but there is no footage of her ever leaving.

Alcantara was known for her strong ties to her church and spent most of her time with church friends or at work, according to her cousin, Naysa Peguero.

Her mother, Sunilda Rubiera, said Alcantara had planned to attend a church event in Connecticut on Sunday but never arrived.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
