A German model who has artificially darkened her skin to resemble a Black woman has announced plans to “widen her nose” before relocating to Africa.
Martina Big, a 39-year-old former flight attendant, and her husband, Michael, have reportedly been injecting themselves with Melanotan, a synthetic hormone that increases melanin production, leading to darker skin tones.

The couple has undergone extreme body modifications as part of their self-styled transformation.
In 2019, Big participated in a baptismal ceremony in Kenya, where she adopted the name “Malaika Kubwa,” which translates to “Big Angel” in Swahili.
She has since claimed to feel a deep connection to African culture and expressed a desire to move to the continent permanently.
“We have received invitations from fans in many African countries, and so it hasn’t been easy to choose,” Big told the Daily Mail. “Currently, we have Kenya and Namibia on our shortlist.”

Big, who has surgically enhanced her breasts to a size 32T, stated that before her move, she intends to undergo additional cosmetic procedures, including butt augmentation and a nasal widening surgery in Europe.
She cited a lack of specialized surgeons in Africa capable of performing the procedures to her desired “extreme” specifications.
“Since I want my surgeries very extreme, I don’t know any surgeons in Africa who can do those. I am hoping that we can resolve the remaining issues soon and realize our dream of emigrating as soon as possible,” she said.
Big’s transformation and claims of “becoming a Black woman” have sparked controversy, with critics accusing her of cultural appropriation and Blackfishing— a term used to describe non-Black individuals altering their appearance to adopt Black features for personal gain.
Her decision to relocate to Africa follows years of media attention and backlash, with many questioning the ethics and implications of her drastic modifications.
