A 61-year-old Milwaukee woman is facing first-degree reckless homicide charges after allegedly shooting her husband during an argument, later telling police, “I just shot him because I’m just tired.”
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on May 31 at an apartment near 95th Street and Brown Deer Road.

Her husband, 49-year-old Aerion Winters, was found with gunshot wounds to his back and chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Argument Turned Deadly

A witness told police they had driven Aerion to the apartment to retrieve belongings when an argument broke out.
The witness claimed they tried to intervene, but Doris grabbed a gun from a nearby table, racked it, and shot Aerion in the back.
She allegedly then said, “Get him out of here before I shoot him again.”
Chilling Confession
Body camera footage captured Doris admitting to the shooting, saying:
“He called me a [expletive] for the last time, and I just shot him. I just grabbed my gun and shot him because I’m just tired. I know I shouldn’t have shot him, but I’m just tired.”
At the police station, she reportedly reiterated her confession, stating she fired when her husband turned away from her.
Doris Winters was charged with first-degree reckless homicide with a dangerous weapon and remains in custody. The case is ongoing.
