Former Miss World Lisa Hanna Shares Powerful Lesson on Life: ‘Don’t Wait Until Your Body is Tired’

by Gee NY

Former Cabinet Minister, four-term Member of Parliament, UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, columnist, and Miss World 1993, Lisa Hanna is using her platform to deliver a reminder about life, energy, and purpose.

In a recent Instagram post (@lisahannamp), Hanna told her followers:

“Your battery is still running. So live charged. Live fully. Live now.”

A Battery and a Life

In her video, Hanna drew a striking parallel between how people panic when their phone batteries drop into the red zone and how they often ignore their own “life batteries.”

“Your life has a battery too,” she explained, noting that the average life expectancy for Jamaican women is 76 years. By her own calculation, Hanna says she has already lived about 65% of that. “The truth is, you can’t always add years to your life, but you can add life to your years.”

She encouraged viewers to consider how they will use the remaining energy they have left, urging them not to wait for crisis to live intentionally.

Why She Left Politics

Hanna also reflected on her decision to step away from Jamaican politics, where she served as a Member of Parliament for four terms and as a government minister.

“I watched too many of my colleagues stay too long,” she said, explaining that some left broken, sick, or died in office without ever getting the chance to truly live. “Don’t wait until your body is tired, your spirit is empty, to start living your life.”

A Universal Message

Her words carried a sense of urgency but also empowerment:

  • “Spend it on love, spend it on spontaneity, spend it on vision, spend it on the things that will outlast you,” she urged.
  • “Because your battery is still running. So live charged, live fully, and please live now.”

Hanna’s message has resonated widely with her followers.
