Halle Berry thinks the world needs to know she’s not happy Drake used a picture of her to promote new music even after she said no.
On Sep. 15, the Monster’s Ball star took to Instagram to state: “Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy…even if you’re a woman!”
Just two days before, Drake released his latest track called Slime You Out, featuring SZA. In the cover photo of the song, Halle Berry is seen covered in slime at Nickelodeon’s 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards. Atop the image is a “Parental Advisory – Explicit Content” warning label on the bottom right-hand side.
One Instagram user asked Berry how she felt about the picture, to which she said “Hence my post today. When people you admire disappoint you you have to be the bigger person and move on !”
And in response to another fan, she wrote: “He did have his people call my people call my people and I said NO. I didn’t like that image of slime all over my face in association with his song. And he chose to do it anyway ! You see…that is the disrespect. Not cool !”
This prompted another user to chime in, writing: “While I do understand your side. That photo is owned by Getty Images. So im sure he got their permission. And paid the fee. Why you mad.”
To which the Ohio native replied: “Cuz he asked me and i said NO that’s why. Why ask if you intend to do what you want to do ! That was the f–k you to me. Not cool. You get it?”
She further addressed the usage of the image, adding “It’s about principles and integrity. So happy many of you get that.”
After another user wrote to her, stating: “I would be more upset about the meaning of the pic. ‘Slime you’ what does that mean exactly? Hmm…”
Berry responded, “Exactly! What does that mean?”
In lyrics to the Slime You Out song, Drake raps:
“I’m slimin’ you for them kid choices you made.” The song will feature on his upcoming eighth studio LP For All the Dogs, coming out Sept. 22.
