Actress and comedienne MoâNique has been in the news a lot lately all due to her call to boycott Netflix. The boycott has caused quite a controversy, and itâs caused lots of people to choose sides. Whether youâre with MoâNique or not one person has decided to have her back when it comes to this issue. Life coach Iyanla Vanzant believes that people should show their support for the comedienne because the boycott is deeper than just her personal issues.
Vanzant spoke with Madame Noire on Tuesday (March 7) and weighed in on her stance with the situation stating, âMoâNique canât fight that battle by herself, and people will not stand up for the battle or not stand up for the cause because itâs MoâNique, well, it didnât start with MoâNique, so either weâre going to do it, or weâre not, but donât make this about MoâNique. Itâs not about MoâNique. MoâNique is just saying what other people have refused to say.â
The TV personality further states that she doesnât understand why people are so surprised that MoâNique alleges the streaming service engages in color and gender bias while discussing her deal, compared to Amy Schumer who got $13 million and Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle who each got offered $20 million.
Iyanla raises some interesting points itâs still unknown if the reasoning behind MoâNiqueâs 500,000 deal was due to her being a black woman or because of her relevance.
