Jamaican sprint star Shericka Jackson opened her 2026 Diamond League season with a commanding win in the women’s 200 meters at the Shanghai Diamond League, clocking a season-best 22.07 seconds against one of the deepest sprint fields assembled this year.
Jackson surged through the curve and maintained control down the stretch, holding off Bahamian Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo, who finished second in 22.26. American sprinter Anavia Battle placed third in 22.40, narrowly ahead of U.S. sprint sensation Sha’Carri Richardson, who crossed the line in 22.42.

The race was widely viewed as one of the marquee sprint events of the Shanghai meet, featuring several world-class contenders and Olympic-caliber athletes. Jackson’s victory immediately strengthens her position as one of the favorites heading into the heart of the 2026 outdoor track and field season.
British sprinter Amy Hunt finished fifth in 22.48, while Jenna Prandini, Yujie Chen and McKenzie Long rounded out the stacked final.
Jackson, whose personal best stands at 21.41 seconds, looked composed and powerful throughout the race, delivering an early statement performance as the Wanda Diamond League season gets underway.
