US based Ghanaian marketing executive, Bozoma Saint John has accepted the position of Chief Brand Officer at troubled transportation giant, Uber.

Uber, which has received an unusual level of bad press over the past few months, is banking on Saint John’s impeccable track record to turn things around for them. Uber is currently battling to move past the recent resignation of CEO Travis Kalanick amid a slew of both sexual assault allegations and safety issues.

Bozoma Saint John (former marketing executive at Apple Music) spoke to CBS about her plans to improve the company’s image and is under no illusions about the laborious task ahead of her.

“I want change. I want things to be great for people of color and for women. For us to be able to show up at work, do our best work and be appreciated for that work. If I can contribute to that, and it’s not gonna be easy. There’s gonna be lots of challenges. I’m sure there’ll be frustrating days. I’m, sure there’ll be times I’ll cry… But I’m hopeful.
