by Gee NY

Coco Gauff continues her stellar season with a straight-sets victory over Iga Swiatek, winning 6-3, 6-4 to secure her place in the semifinals of the WTA Finals.

This marks Gauff’s second career win over Swiatek and her first since the Cincinnati Open, breaking Swiatek’s six-match winning streak at the WTA Finals.

The victory moves Gauff to a 2-0 record in the Orange Group, putting her in a strong position to advance to the next round.

Meanwhile, Swiatek’s record in the group stage stands at 1-1 after she rallied to defeat Barbora Krejcikova in her opening match.

Krejcikova kept her own semifinal hopes alive by defeating Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-3, though the result officially eliminated Pegula from contention after her earlier loss to Gauff.

Krejcikova’s win marks a remarkable accomplishment for the Czech player, who qualified as the eighth seed and is the lowest-ranked player to win a WTA Finals match since Magda Maleeva 22 years ago.

The tournament in Saudi Arabia features the top eight players on the women’s tour and showcases the intense competition and high stakes as players vie for the season-ending title.
