Grammy-winning singer and actress Coco Jones is opening up about what she calls a “surreal” milestone in her career: performing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at the 2026 Super Bowl.

In a video shared by Apple Music on Instagram, Jones reflected on the moment she learned she had been selected to perform the historic anthem during one of the most-watched events in the world. The performance is scheduled for February 2026.

“Recently, it got announced that I will be performing Lift Every Voice and Sing at the 2026 Super Bowl, and I don’t know how to feel,” Jones said. “I mean, I’m still shocked. It’s just surreal, my life sometimes.”

Often referred to as the Black National Anthem, Lift Every Voice and Sing carries deep cultural and historical significance. Jones acknowledged the weight of that responsibility, saying she views the opportunity as an honor and a sign of trust in her ability to represent Black culture on a global stage.

“I do think it’s an honor that they looked at me and they said, ‘Yep, she can represent culture in this worldwide moment,’” she said, adding that the recognition has left her both humbled and deeply grateful.

Jones also spoke about the Super Bowl performance as part of a larger season of growth in her life and career.

“This is a great year,” she said. “I’m excited for next year and all of the new ways that I will grow, the new blessings that will rain down. And Lord, I’m grateful.”

The announcement adds to a banner period for Jones, whose music and acting career have steadily gained momentum, positioning her as one of the most visible young artists of her generation.

Performing at the Super Bowl — particularly with a song rooted in Black history and resilience — places her at the center of a cultural moment that extends beyond music.

Apple Music encouraged fans to hear more from Jones through her full radio takeover on the platform.
