Singer Lauryn Hill added Jason Lee to her list of people who weren’t impressed after meeting her for the first time. In a recent interview, Lee described his encounter with Hill as his “worst celebrity experience” ever.
Lauryn Hill’s attitude, especially her chronic lateness, has been discussed for years. Over the years, concertgoers have shared their stories of waiting for hours before Hill takes the stage, with some even leaving in frustration.
Earlier this month, when she canceled her U.S. due to low ticket sales and blamed media “clickbait” for the low turnout, many fans disagreed, citing that the true culprit is the singer’s perceived attitude problems.
Several concertgoers spoke about Hill’s notoriously late shows, claiming that her inconsistent performance times had turned off many fans.
Recently, actor Jason Lee shared how meeting Ms. Hill was a huge ‘turn-off.’
In an unfiltered conversation with VladTV, Jason Lee described his first meeting with Lauryn Hill, which went from fascinating to uncomfortable in moments.
He described the scene as professional but full of tension, particularly when he casually called her name. She insisted that he address her as “Ms. Hill.” Then, she declined his handshake.
“I went up to her and said, ‘Hi Lauryn, I’m Jas—’ and she cut me off, jumped back, snatched her hand, and said, ‘You will never refer to me as Lauryn; you will call me Ms.Hill, and I don’t shake hands’ and walked away. That was our interaction.”
Lauryn Hill and her decades of soulful voice and powerful lyrics have been a frequent subject of controversy, from her unpredictable behavior at concerts to her reclusive lifestyle.
And now, Jason Lee’s latest claim adds to the Grammy-winning artist’s complex public persona.
Ms Hill has yet to respond to Lee’s comments.
