Texas rapper and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Erica Banks was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers discovered a stolen handgun inside her Louis Vuitton bag.
The incident occurred Wednesday night, August 6, as the “Buss It” rapper — whose real name is Erica Scharmane Breaux—was preparing to board a Delta flight to Houston.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, TSA agents flagged the bag during routine screening, revealing a black Smith & Wesson .380 mm handgun inside.
Banks reportedly told authorities she was unaware the firearm was in her possession and claimed it belonged to her security. However, she refused to provide the security guard’s name.
Law enforcement ran the gun’s serial number and determined it had been reported stolen in Greenville, South Carolina, in 2018.
The 25-year-old rapper was taken into custody by police and booked into Clayton County Jail, facing a charge of theft by receiving stolen property.
She was released a few hours later.
While Banks has not issued a formal public statement, reports indicate she maintains that the weapon did not belong to her. Authorities have not confirmed whether additional charges will be filed as the investigation continues.
The arrest marks the latest in a string of firearm-related incidents at major U.S. airports, with TSA officials reminding travelers to ensure all luggage contents comply with federal and state laws.
