Erica Mena has publicly apologized to Nicki Minaj for past comments made while she was in a relationship with Safaree Samuels.
The Reality TV star recently took a moment to reflect on her past actions, especially regarding her support for Safaree Samuels during his complicated relationship with Nicki Minaj.
In a conversation on the Dumb Blonde podcast, Erica shared her heartfelt apology to Nicki, expressing her regrets about her previous stance. She revealed that her own experiences with Safaree have profoundly shifted her perspective.
In the interview, Erica admitted that she was blinded by her relationship with Safaree and failed to see the bigger picture. “I owe her the biggest apology,” she began. “Like women, all of us when we don’t know any better, especially when we are wrapped deep into the love-bombing phase.”
Erica explained that she ignored critical red flags early on, including Safaree’s relentless criticism of his ex, Nicki Minaj. She recalled how Safaree repeatedly talked about Nicki, portraying himself as the victim in their breakup.
“I remember him pouring his heart out to me about all the stuff she did to him. Showing me videos of her reacting. And at the time, I didn’t think to ask, ‘Well, what did you do to her?’ And mind you, this was a video he was going around showing to people in the industry. Around the time he was trying to bring her down, saying that he wrote for her. Literally saying whatever he could to kinda ruin her career and take credit for her own work.”
Perhaps the most striking part of Erica’s confession was her admission of complicity. “I owe this woman an apology because I sat there and allowed him to talk about her to me,” she said. “From that came me, saying things and defending him, vouching for him, and speaking about her in a way that was tacky. At the end of the day, I didn’t know the truth.”
Erica concluded her apology by affirming that Nicki’s past statements about Safaree were valid. “Everything she has ever said about him is true,” she confessed.
Nicki Minaj, who has largely moved on from the drama, has yet to publicly respond to Erica’s statements.
