Amira Virgil is a long-time player of EA Games’ popular life simulation series, The Sims. Despite being a loyal fan, Amira felt that she was not represented in the game, nor were other people of color accurately depicted. She then went on to create a forum where Black people could create their own, more relatable content for the game, called The Black Simmer.
The content in The Black Simmer forum is downloadable and users have created everything from hairstyles and clothes to Sims with body shapes and behavior modifications they feel accurately represent the Black experience. The forum currently has over 17,000 members and counting!
