Izina Hair, a Black-owned brand founded by Diana and Jordane in 2021, is reshaping the hair industry by offering loc extensions rooted in African heritage and economic empowerment.

Unlike many hair vendors that manufacture in Asia, Izina partners with artisans in Burundi to produce high-quality locs, ensuring that Black communities benefit directly from their craft.

“We wanted to create something that truly represents us,” Diana told Black Enterprise. “Too often, our hair is manufactured far from home, without our input. We knew we had to change that.”

Diana’s own natural hair journey, shared on social media as “NaturallyDidi,” inspired the creation of Izina. After years of using relaxers, she embraced her natural curls, encouraging others to do the same.

“Going back to my natural hair was a turning point,” she shared. “It wasn’t just about aesthetics, it was about reclaiming my identity.”

With a focus on authenticity, confidence, and community, Izina Hair offers more than just extensions—it fosters cultural pride and economic independence.

“Every loc we create is a step towards economic independence for our communities. We’re not just selling hair; we’re building a legacy,” Diana added.

By championing African artistry, Izina Hair is redefining beauty standards and ensuring that Black hair is celebrated on a global scale.
