A 21-year-old hairdresser, Jessie James, has been hospitalized in Trinidad and Tobago after being attacked with acid by two women.
According to Trinidad Guardian, the incident happened in a town called Belmont last week Wednesday. The report said the attack was allegedly motivated by accusations that James had been socializing with men known to the attackers.
James sustained chemical burns and is currently receiving medical treatment for her injuries.

Acid attacks can cause severe and lasting damage, including permanent scarring, infections, and psychological trauma.
The incident has sparked concerns over interpersonal violence in Trinidad and Tobago. Acid attacks, while more commonly associated with certain regions of the country, are increasingly being recognized as a brutal method of inflicting harm.
The assault has also raised questions about the accessibility of corrosive substances and the broader issue of gender-based violence.
Authorities are investigating the attack, and there have been renewed calls for stricter regulations on dangerous chemicals and stronger measures to prevent violence against women.
