A Houston mother has been found guilty of a felony after she was convicted of murdering her 4-month-old daughter.

On Monday, 29-year-old Tradezsha Trenay Bibbs was sentenced to life in prison for the death of her child, Brielle Robinson.

“Our office stands up for all victims, but a baby is the most innocent of victims,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a press statement. “We believed that a life sentence was appropriate for this brutal murder and a Harris County jury agreed.”

Prior to the murder conviction, Bibbs was convicted of capital murder, but that verdict was reversed and she was re-tried in court, according to the district attorney’s office.

The felon would soon be investigated by the Houston Police Department following the death of her daughter four months after she was born.

Police say Bibbs was with her infant in a motel room when she heard her crying. To stop her daughter from crying, she picked the baby up by the arms and dropped her on the bed, which caused her to fall to the floor, according to police. She then hit her daughter in the face, chest and ribs until she stopped crying. The child was taken to a local hospital where medical personnel determined she had suffered multiple fractures and severe head trauma. She was later pronounced dead.

Bibbs initially told police that her daughter had accidentally fallen on concrete while she attempted to remove her from a car seat, but investigations found that she killed her daughter intentionally, according to charging documents. She was arrested and charged days later.

“Bibbs deserved a life sentence for what she did to her child,” Assistant District Attorney Keaton Forcht told FOX 26 Houston. “She beat her countless times and seemed to care about as much about the death of her daughter as she did about the life of her daughter.

“We are very happy with the verdict in the case,” said Assistant District Attorney Napoleon Stewart. “We are happy that justice was served for baby Brielle.”
