The life coach had an interesting point of view on recent mumblings of Black men, especially celebrities, dating white women instead of the sisters.

Speaking with Nick Cannon about Black celebrities dating outside of their race on ‘Counsel Culture’, Iyanla Vanzant pointed out how marriage does not stop people from advocating for their people.

“You, as a Black man, dating a woman of another race or culture, are demonstrating that you can love who you love and still take care of your people.

“Maybe that’s not your soul contract to marry a Black person. But to take care of the Black community and to do it in a way where you are out in the world, and people see you, and you handle yourself, and you speak your truth, and you state your intention, and you love ‘Becky’.”

She continued by pointing out how some black men neglect their duties to their communities even though they date and have children with women of color.

“I don’t know how to say it. It’s okay because the line blurs… there are a lot of men of color out there with means who ain’t doing nothing,” Iyanla Vanzant continued. “And they are sleeping with anything black that they want to, but they ain’t doing nothing.”

According to the pro-Black activist, impacting the community positively should hold more importance than who they choose to marry.

“They spend their money on the poll, and they sleep with Black women, and they ain’t doing nothing for the hundreds and thousands of young Black boys that can’t read. Or the hundreds of thousands of Black children with food insecurity right here in America,” Iyanla Vanzant added.

Vanzant also called on celebrities to make a conscious effort to bring up people who have had impactful careers in the Black community.
