The queen, Miss Janet if ya nasty, received the Global Icon Award at the 2018 European Music Awards. It was held in Balboa, Spain this year.
With a solo career spanning 4 decades, she wowed the audience with a medley of her greatest hits.
After the performance, Jackson accepted the Global Icon Award from Jason Derulo and Caila Cabello , puncutating the moment with a powerful speech about speaking out against misogyny and other injustices. “I accept this award with profound gratitude. To be called an icon is a tremendous honor, but one that comes with a tremendous responsibility,” she began. “Tonight I feel moved to speak for women whose voices have been stifled. I am one of those women. Women who have been gagged, both literally and emotionally. Women who have been abused. Women who have been intimidated. Women who have lived in fear. I stand with you. You are my sisters.”
She thanked her fans for the support and she described looking forward to a hopeful future for all women.
