Late last year War Media’s Jean Grae and Mello Music artist/ producer Quelle Chris announced their engagement.
The pair has been collaborating for years and are preparing to release their joint project, Everything’s Fine – slated for release March 30th.
This week, they’re serving is oodles off giddy-ish Black love in the Jean Grae-directed, satiric new video for “Gold Purple Orange.” The video features an all-star cast including good friend and comedian Hannibal Buress, South Carolina emcee Denmark Vessey, Dane Orr, Duncecap, and more. The video pays homage to the 80s glamor shots.
“I shot it in our living room, and now we own entirely too many 1980s backdrops for photo shoots,” Jean Grae tells Consequence Of Sound. “They’re beautiful. They’re soft. They’re expressive. People have the best shots and expressions. Not to mention- props. Not to mention backdrops. Yet, I have mentioned them.”
The video is hilarious, but the song actually has a very deep meaning, delving into societal standards and age-old stereotypes. We are excited to hear ‘Everything’s Fine.’ One thing we can count on is that it will be far from boring with this pair.
