Xscape member LaTocha Scott has confirmed that Xscape will go head-to-head with SWV in an upcoming Verzuz battle.
The Verzuz will take place on May 8.
While the date may be new, speculation around a potential battle between the two groups has been simmering for months.
In January, rumors began to swirl after Scott took to Instagram to share a cover of “Weak.” Soon after Coko, posted her rendition of “Who Can I Run To,” one of Xscape’s most beloved hits.
SWV has sold 10 million records in the US and 25 million records worldwide and have been nominated for four Grammy Awards.
Xscape debut album “Hummin’ Comin’ at ‘Cha” in 1993, which produced two of their biggest hits, “Just Kickin’ It” and “Understanding”. The platinum certified sold more than 7 million records worldwide.
In December, Scott confirmed the group’s biopic is in the works.
“Well we’ve been in talks you know, all of us, all four girls are ready for this to happen. We’re making sure that the people that are getting involved is who we want to be involved with this because when you do a life story that’s it. You can’t go back and change anything, you can’t go erase anything so we just want to make sure it’s done right,” she told The Jasmine BRAND.
“We’ve already kind of talked about who we want to play the roles of each and every one of us. I know Tiny talked about [her daughter] Zonnique playing her in the movie. And then my sister wants my niece to play her because you know they both act just alike.”
