Charlotte native Kaylyn Brown has etched her name into the record books by helping Team USA set a new world record in the mixed 4×400-meter relay at the Olympics.
Brown, a 19-year-old Mallard Creek High School alumna and current Arkansas athlete, anchored the relay team to a stunning finish with a record-setting time of 3:07.41.
This new world record surpasses the previous mark of 3:08.8 set by Team USA at the 2023 World Championships.
The mixed 4×400-meter relay, a relatively new event in the Olympic program, features teams composed of two men and two women.
This event made its debut at the Tokyo Games in 2020. Alongside Brown, Team USA’s record-breaking performance included contributions from fellow runners Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, and Bryce Deadmon.
The final for the Mixed 4×400-meter relay took place on Saturday, August 3, at 2:55 p.m. Eastern Time, with the event broadcast on NBC and streaming live on Peacock.
Brown’s remarkable achievement not only highlights her individual talent but also underscores the strength and coordination of the U.S. relay team in this exciting and evolving Olympic event.
