Love and Hip Hop: New York reality star Mendeecees Harris has been vocal in the past about his prior life in the drug game. And for the first time, he’s gone into detail about the lengths he took to survive as a drug dealer, which left him to do several years behind bars.

On a recent episode of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay, the husband to entertainment mogul Yandy Smith detailed how he got into drug dealing and how he almost sacrificed his mother, Judy Harris, in the process.

“I got some crazy stories,” he recalled. “I remember one time I was dealing with a connect, and this gonna sound horrible, but I put my mom up for collateral. I was getting a bunch of keys, and they was like, ‘Well, you gotta show me where your mom live at, because if you run off on this, we can’t afford for you to run off. I had no intention of running off, so I was like, ‘I’ll show you. ‘All right I’ll show you.’ And I took ’em. And she had no idea.”

He continued: “I think at that point I had good in my heart to do good business, so I didn’t think that far. I never even told nobody that. When I look back at the decisions I made now, I be like, ‘I can’t believe I’m still here.’”

He further added that he has no intention of getting back into that lifestyle and is happy he is finally off the streets for good.

Shannon then asked Harris what was one of the worst things he’s done as a drug dealer, to which he responded that putting his mother up for collateral was “one of them.”

Harris was arrested, charged and convicted of drug trafficking and was eventually sentenced to eight years in prison, but after taking a plea deal, he served four years and was freed in 2020.
