Rihanna fans may not be getting a new album anytime soon. However, the billionaire megastar has announced she is releasing limited edition vinyl reissues, more aptly named the “Rih-issue,” of all eight of her studio albums.
“the RIH 👏🏿 ISSUE 👏🏿 cop these limited edition color vinyl + exclusive merch sets before dey gon’!!!” she tweeted.
The bundles also come with an exclusive t-shirt linked to the respective album release.
Rhianna’s last album release was her 2016 “ANTI” album which reached double-platinum status. The album spawned a slew of hits, including the Drake-assisted “Work,” “Needed Me,” and “Love On The Brain.”
Last year, the singer opened up to the Associated Press about the preparation which goes into creating an album.
“We started with tons of writing camps. Now it’s more what do I feel personally? What do I want to put out as an artist? How do I want to play it with my art?” she mused.
“How do I want to interpret that, reimagine that? Because it’s been so structured before. You do pop, you do this genre, you do that, you do radio, you do who’s following you and your fans. But now, it’s just like – what makes me happy? I just want to have fun with music.”
Riri says music is her way of escapism.
“Everything is so heavy,” she explained. “The world that we live in, a lot is overwhelming every single day. And music, I’m using that as my outlet. I just want to have fun with that.”
“I want to go on tour but I can’t,” she said of creating music during the pandemic. “And now I’m stuck with music that I love, and now I’m trying to to figure out how I can even create visuals to that. That’s a challenge as well, but I love challenges so you know I’m a get it done.”
