On Sunday night, the sixth season of “Real Housewives of Potomac” premiered on Bravo — and cast member Robyn Dixon says that this season is not “toxic” like season five was.
“I’m excited to just really move forward from the previous season,” she told Page Six.
“[Last] season got kind of heavy and toxic, and I think I can speak for most of the group to say, like, we just wanted to move forward and put that behind us. So we, for the most part, not right away, but we come in with kind of open minds and just try to move forward.”
In season five, the feud between Monique Samuels and Candiace Dillard got very dark. Monique, who used to refer to Candiace as her “little sister,” put her hands on Candiace during a heated altercation captured by Bravo cameras.
It was the second time things had gotten physical between the two.
“We didn’t want to repeat the past, and so, that was a good thing to know that, like, ‘OK, we don’t want to be hung up on the previous season or the reunion,'” Robyn added. “So even though it kind of left a bad taste in our mouths, we still were open to just creating something new.”
Robyn had positive things to say about new Housewife, Mia Thornton.
“But she also didn’t hesitate to speak her mind. She doesn’t hold her tongue. … She gets in the mix pretty quickly. So, I think the fans will be entertained by Mia and will be interested and intrigued by her story,” she said.
Mia is close with the show’s grande dame, Karen Huger.
“Karen had never introduced her to us,” she told us. “It is pretty cool when you just meet someone and you still have a mutual friend so you at least know … you can feel safe around the person because at least they know someone that you know.”
