Bravo recently released the first look of Kandi Burruss’ “Real Housewives of Atlanta” spinoff, “Kandi & the Gang!” — and the show is already drawing comparisons to Bravo’s long-running series,” Vanderpump Rules.”
However, restaurant staffers insist the shows are nothing alike.
“For one, I think that we are spicy, we’re funny. We have a lot of different people that are part of the cast and these different personalities all brought together,” Dom’Unique Variety said in an interview with HollywoodLife. “I think that the energy is crazy, us trying to get through the hardships and just the things that come along with restaurant life and still be ourselves alone is just something that the world has to see!”
“Kandi & The Gang” follows Kandi’s family and staff working at her “Old Lady Gang” restaurant in Atlanta. According to Bravo, viewers will get an inside look at the family-owned and operated eatery, which will, of course, includes The OLGs: Mama Joyce Jones, Aunt Nora Wilcox, and Aunt Bertha Jones.
As you can see from the trailer, the drama is aplenty.
Atlanta native and staff manager Phillip Frempong, hostess with the most-est, Shawndreca Robinson, OLG valet owner, Patrick Dallas and more.
In January, Kandi also shot down claims that the shows are similar.
“I think the similarity is that she has restaurants, I have restaurants, and we’re both Housewives. OK, great. I think that’s where the similarities stop,” Kandi told ET of the comparison back in June. “You definitely will get to know some of the people that actually work at the restaurant. Some people may or may not know, I do have some family members that you may not have gotten a chance to know from Real Housewives that do work at the restaurant, so you’ll probably see some of them.”
The show premieres on Sunday, March 6 at 9/8c.
