Former Citigroup executive Titi Cole has been elected to the company’s board of directors, Citi announced.
Cole, who retired last year as the head of legacy franchises, joins the board as Barbara Desoer prepares to step down due to the company’s age restrictions for directors. Cole, a banking industry veteran, was recognized as one of American Banker’s Most Powerful Women in Banking in 2022 and 2023.
She will serve on Citi’s risk management, technology, and transformation oversight committees. Due to her prior employment with the bank, she will not be classified as an independent director.
Cole joined Citi in 2020 and was instrumental in overseeing the bank’s exit from consumer banking operations in 14 countries under CEO Jane Fraser’s leadership.
Before her tenure at Citi, she held leadership roles at Wells Fargo, Bank of America, BMO, and McKinsey.
Her appointment strengthens Citi’s leadership team as the bank continues its global restructuring and transformation initiatives.
