5 Black Owned Nail Polish Brands You Should Know #BuyBlack

by Yah Yah

The power of a good manicure and polish should never be underestimated. A poppin’ nail lacquer can take an outfit from ‘meh’ to ‘yeah’ with minimal effort!

While the majority of nail lacquer brands are Asian owned, there are many Black Owned brands killing it out in the field! Here are just a few for you to get your claws into… #BuyBlack

Ginger + Liz

Started a few years back by Ginger Johnson and Liz Pickett, the Ginger + Liz Colour Collectionâ„¢ creates vegan-friendly and toxin-free nail lacquer in a wide variety of shades. The brand also produces their own nail care products, that includes a glass nail file and even a hand toning creme.

Lisa Nail Lacquer

Founded by Beauty Editor, Lisa Wilson, Lisa Nail lacquer collection includes 16 vibrant colors which are completely cruelty-free, non-toxic and 100% vegan. The ‘Pineapple smoothie’ shade is abso-fruit-ley delish!

Pear Nova

Chicago-based brand Pear Nova’s current Nude Collection is everything! Like many indie nail brands right now their polishes boast the 5 free (free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde de resin, camphor, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate DBP), are totally vegan-friendly and of course, cruelty-free.

Adore’Her

Former model Devorne Wade created Adore’Her in 2013, and the brand is still going strong. With over 20 shades, Adore’Her’s collection is nothing to play with! We are digging the electrifying ‘Uninvited’ shade.

Ooo Polish

If you follow Ooo Polish on Instagram, then you too are probably a fan of her product making videos. This brand gives you a glimpse behind the scenes allowing you to see how the polishes are made. What I also love about Ooo is that on the website, every shade is accompanied by a photo of what the polish looks like on the nails. They are, of course, 5 free and are even safe for the children. Ooo is currently closed until 2018, but we think they’re awesome and worthy of putting on everybody’s radar!
