It was a tumultuous Mother’s Day for comedian Nick Cannon after he confessed that he mixed up Mother’s Day cards between the six mothers to his 12 children.
On Tuesday, the Drumline actor said his intention was to handwrite “messages from the heart” but things took a turn for the worst.
“I thought it would be a really, really good idea to show people how you really feel, write it down. As I’m writing a handwritten message, I get the cards mixed up. So when one baby mama reads the card [she’s reading] about how I feel about the other baby mama,” Cannon confessed, adding that despite the screw-up his intentions are pure.
He also admitted that he decided to inseminate several of his children’s mothers because they expressed that their biological clock was ticking.
“A lot of them are in the same age group. And I just wanted to give them what they desired. I kept saying, ‘I can handle it,’” he said in a 2020 interview. “[As a man] who’s made his bones, you’re not looking to give half of what you built to someone you don’t even know.”
Cannon has been candid in the past about how hard it is being the father to multiple children with different mothers.
“Being a father of multiple kids, it’s always the biggest guilt on me is that I don’t get to spend enough time with all my children,” he said on an episode of The Checkup with Dr. David Agus. “I’m constantly working and two because I’m just spread thin. … I love all of my children. I’m grateful to all of their mothers for working with my crazy life.”
