An insider claimed that the festival’s staff members were “aggressive,” and Kelly tried to ignore them before verbally tussling with them.
At the prestigious 2024 Cannes Film Festival, American singer Kelly Rowland made headlines when she appeared to confront a security guard while walking the red carpet.
According to the media blog, TheNeighbourhoodTalk, a source close to Kelly Rowland has seemingly confirmed expert lip-reader Jacqui Press’s interpretation of what happened on the red carpet.
The insider said Rowland was standing up for herself after she was allegedly treated rudely by staff members.
“The people assigned to helping stars walk the red carpet were being aggressive, and Kelly was trying to ignore it. By the time she got to the last woman, she had had it because she scolded Kelly and told her to move when she was trying to wave to fans and help the paparazzi get their shot,” the insider told DailyMail.com.
According to the source who spoke with the outlet, Rowland “wanted to set a clear boundary” with the security staff member. “She knows that she is standing up for herself, so she doesn’t care if she comes across as a diva. She is not a fraud.”
A video showing the former member of Destiny’s Child getting into a heated argument with a female security guard at the event has gone viral on social media.
Rowland enters the stairs in the footage, grinning and posing tastefully for the cameras as security guards lead her and the other guests up.
As Rowland ascended a flight of stairs, a female security guard stationed at the event held her arm up behind her as if to guide her away from the crowd and inside the venue.
Furthermore, it appeared that the woman dressed in black was speaking to either Rowland or the security officer to the songstress’s right.
Rowland was unhappy about whatever had happened, and he turned to face the female employee immediately.
With a frown on her face and a raised left index finger, the Grammy winner appeared to reprimand the woman in front of everyone.
Looking flustered, the woman retorted back, leading to a heated exchange.
This is the second heated exchange Kelly has been involved in this year. Remember, she sparked controversy in February after walking off the ‘Today’ show set over dressing room issues.
