President Joe Biden addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of the nation’s commitment to equality, while acknowledging the challenges posed by ongoing efforts to undermine progress.
He highlighted threats to voting rights, opportunities, and diversity, urging vigilance against attempts to rewrite history and suppress Black voices.
The spirited performance of Kirk Franklin’s “Smile” brought Vice President Harris to her feet, joining in the celebration of Juneteenth on the White House lawn.
The event marked a historic moment in recognizing and honoring African American culture and heritage.
