A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Acadia Parish, Louisiana, where a 17-year-old high school senior was fatally shot by her 21-year-old boyfriend just hours before attending her school’s homecoming dance.
According to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, Dashayla Ardoin, a student at Mamou High School, and Glenkeithan Robertson, a local DJ, were found dead in a car on Saturday, Oct.12.
Authorities report that the couple was en route to the high school dance when an argument erupted between them, leading Robertson to shoot Ardoin before taking his own life.
Both were discovered with gunshot wounds inside the vehicle.
“From the investigation, this case is believed to be a murder / suicide,” Sheriff KP Gibson said in a statement shared on social media.
The exact motive behind the tragic shooting remains unclear at this time.
Mamou High School, where Dashayla was a senior, released a statement mourning the loss of the beloved student.
“Dashayla will always be remembered for her courage and bravery, her kind heart, and her beautiful smile,” read part of the tribute shared by the school on Monday. “She was so very loved and will be dearly missed.”
The shocking incident has left the local community in mourning as friends, family, and classmates grapple with the sudden and devastating loss.
