R&B icon Tamika Scott has been receiving a wave of appreciation online for a heartfelt gesture she made recently. The Xscape member shared her experience on Instagram about a visit to The Juicy Crab in Buford, Ga., where she surprised a waitress with a $700 tip.
In an engaging Instagram video, Tamika recounted how she and her daughter, who goes by Young Niyah, arrived at the seafood restaurant about half an hour before closing time. She noticed that out of the five or six waitresses working, four of them seemed to ignore them completely, leaving them waiting for about five minutes without any help.
Eventually, a young waitress stepped in to assist them, which seemed to trigger some murmurs among the other staff about her decision to help. Moved by this waitress’s kindness and willingness to serve them, Tamika felt inspired to express her appreciation in a meaningful way. “Never judge a book by its cover,” she shared. “Be patient because you never know when you’ll be blessed.”
In a touching moment, Tamika recorded herself counting out a generous $700 to hand to the waitress, who was visibly shocked and grateful. “Oh my goodness, are you guys sure?” the waitress exclaimed in the video, before expressing her sincere gratitude. “Thank you guys so much, I genuinely appreciate it as well.”
Tamika then dropped a message that hit home: “Never judge a book by its cover. Be patient because you never know when you’ll be blessed.”
