A Georgia community is mourning the loss of 18-year-old Patience Price, a high-achieving student who died in a tragic car crash just hours after attending her senior prom.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Chapel Hill Road in Douglas County, Georgia. Authorities say Price was riding in the front passenger seat of a Mercedes when the driver lost control while navigating a sharp turn.
The vehicle reportedly veered off the roadway, struck an embankment, became airborne, and overturned multiple times. Price, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

A second passenger in the back seat sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized, while the driver suffered minor injuries. Police indicated that impairment was not believed to be a factor in the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
A Life Full of Promise Cut Short
Price, a student at Chapel Hill High School, had just attended her prom at the Delta Flight Museum. Known for her academic excellence, she had already graduated early due to outstanding grades—but never got the chance to walk across the stage to receive her diploma.
Friends and classmates remember her as kind, vibrant, and full of life.
“She just had so much love… she had so much to live for,” said her friend Jazzlyn Scott, describing Price as someone who uplifted everyone around her.
Another friend, Cierra Jefferson, recalled her “brightest smile” and warm personality, saying she was “the best friend you could have.”
Community Grief and Reflection
In the days following the crash, a memorial has grown at the site, with flowers and stuffed animals placed in her honor. Chapel Hill High School has made grief counselors available to students and staff affected by the loss.
Principal Melisha Plummer described Price as “a bright and resilient young woman” whose “spirit and perseverance will be deeply missed.”
Loved ones have also launched a fundraiser to support her family as they prepare for funeral arrangements.
Renewed Focus on Road Safety
The tragedy has reignited conversations around seatbelt safety, particularly among young drivers and passengers during high-risk occasions like prom night.
Local residents have also pointed to the опасity of the stretch of road where the crash occurred, noting that the sharp turn has long been considered hazardous.
A GoFundMe organized by Price’s mother, Kimberly Jones, is raising money for her funeral expenses.
