Alicia Keys has tapped Jay-Z, Bono, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, and her husband Swizz Beatz and more to contribute to her audiobook version of More Myself: A Journey.
According to Rolling Stone, the book is described as a “360-degree perspective that’s part autobiography, part narrative documentary.”
“This audiobook has so much amazing energy, I’ve never experienced something so intimate. It’s nuanced and surprising and musical and emotional! I love it, and I am grateful to all my friends and loved ones for joining me on this ride,” Keys said in a statement. “Recording this was a meditative experience, and I cannot wait for the world to hear my story from my own voice.”
Both hardcover and audiobook editions will be released on March 31st via Flatiron Books and Macmillan Audio, respectively.
In March 2019, Keys talked to the publication about her experience of writing the autobiography.
“You know what’s really interesting is just recalling all of these places and spaces and the moments in your life that cause you angst or anxiety or proud moments, or things you have to work through,” she said. “And I wanted to call it a journey because I did not, I do not want it to be called a memoir.”
She added, “You don’t have to compare yourself to anybody. You don’t have to try to be like somebody else, you don’t have to try to make other people who you want to please happy. You know, of course we want to be kind and loving to each other, of course. But the goal is that you are making yourself happy, that you are learning more about yourself, that you are able to identify who you are, what you like, what you love, what makes you feel magic.”
