Amanda Seales has announced her decision to leave all Meta platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, starting February 1.
In an Instagram video shared on Saturday, January 25, Amanda Seales opened up about her reasons for the bold move, citing the need to stay true to her values, even at the expense of personal and financial convenience.
“So, on February 1, I will not be here anymore. I’m just gonna show you better than I could tell you,” Seales declared in her video.
Amanda recognized the financial and professional difficulties this decision may bring but stressed the importance of living according to her principles.
“So I’m gonna lose money, considerable money, by leaving Meta. I’m going to lose considerable money because I lose considerable access to folks who have been following me for quite a long time. I would rather not lose my integrity. So February 1, I will not be here no more,” Amanda Seales explained.
Further, the ‘Insecure’ star disclosed that she decided to simplify her lifestyle a year ago to avoid depending on capitalism or perpetuating it. She also revealed that she has been boycotting Amazon and hasn’t patronized McDonald’s or Starbucks for more than a year. Now, she is including Meta in her list of companies to boycott.
Amanda also informed her fans and Instagram followers that although she is departing from Meta, they can still find her on YouTube, subscribe to her newsletter, or join her Patreon.
“You can watch my show on YouTube, Amanda Seales TV. I will still post content there in terms of shorts. You can sign up for my newsletter so that you can know when I’m doing drops and when I’m doing performances,” she added. “And you can subscribe to my Patreon. It’s $5 a month. And if you don’t have $5 a month, you can at least still show up at YouTube and subscribe to the free Patreon where you sometimes get content.”
“This is the first boycott that will affect me directly monetarily,” Seales said. “But it is what is necessary—not just for the good of people, but the good of your soul.”
