A recently surfaced blog post from Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle’s old website, The Tig, has uncovered the unconditional love she had for her father before their falling out when she joined the royal family.
In 2014, the 41-year-old mother of two wrote a heartfelt tribute to Thomas Markle on Father’s Day, thanking him for being “thoughtful, inspiring and [a] hardworking” man who shed “blood, sweat and tears this man [and] invested in my future so that I could grow up to have so much.”
The letters were originally obtained by The Daily Mail.
She further added that her father would work “religiously” to take her to dance class every week, even though he would work more than 70 hours a week. She said she enjoyed their fishing trips together and praised him for teaching her about the power of writing thank you notes and always arriving on time to functions. She added that she was grateful for him taking time out to drive her to auditions when she decided that she wanted to become an actress.
Just one month before, she penned a touching note to her mother, Doria Ragland on Mother’s Day, in which she commended her mother “for all the lessons, for all the love. For you.”
“My mom has always said that birthdays are your own personal New Year. Your own chance to make resolutions just for yourself and what you prognosticate for your year ahead,” adding that she wished the upcoming year would be filled with “more surprises, more adventure, more opportunities to grow, more days filled with giggles and cheeky jokes, more delicious meals, and more inspiration. Always more inspiration.”
It is unclear what the present relationship status is of Meghan and her father, but just weeks before her wedding to Prince Harry, it was reported that he suffered two heart attacks. King Charles would walk The Suits actress down the aisle.
Despite the falling out between Meghan and Thomas, the Los Angeles native still maintains a close relationship with her mother, who plays an active part in the lives of her grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet.
