Ava Colindres has made history as the first Asian-Latina-African American to be crowned Miss Georgia Teen USA 2024, a milestone she hopes will inspire others to embrace their uniqueness.
Colindres, who recently appeared on Scripps News’ Morning Rush, shared her journey as a trailblazing pageant winner and how she lives by the motto:
“What makes you different makes you beautiful.”
Growing up as the only multicultural student in her grade, Colindres faced challenges and lacked a role model who looked like her.
Her experiences fueled her desire to become a positive influence for young people, especially those who feel underrepresented.
After seeing her cousin participate in pageants, Colindres was inspired to compete and fell in love with the pageant world.
For her, the best part of participating in pageants is the platform it provides, giving her a voice to inspire change and make a difference.
In addition to her Miss Georgia Teen USA title, Colindres also earned first runner-up in the Miss Teen USA 2024 competition, further solidifying her role as a role model for future generations.
