Beyoncé Recieves Her First-Ever Oscar Nomination for ‘King Richard’ Track, ‘Be Alive’

The Oscar nominations have been revealed, and Beyoncé has been nominated for single, “Be Alive,” from the “King Richard,” biopic about the father of tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams.

“Be Alive” is Bey’s first musical offering since 2020’s “Black Parade.”

“It feels so good to be alive/ Got all my sisters by my side. Couldn’t wipe this Black off if I tried/That’s why I lift my hеad with pride,” the song begins.

We bet she’s been beaming with pride ever since she received word of the nod.

It has long been known that the Houston native wanted to win an Oscar for acting. Although this nomination is for a song, it’s still an Oscar—and an incredible accomplishment.

“I knew she was a singer and had a group [Destiny’s Child]. I asked her one day, ‘What do you want to do with your life, Be-yons?'” her former “Austin Powers in Goldmember” co-star, Michael Caine Caine said of Beyoncé back in 2017. “And she said, ‘I want to win the Academy Award for acting.'”

“She was very good in the movie, a very competent actress, and I thought she could get somewhere with this,” he continued. “She’s gone far beyond my world. She’s so big now.”

“King Richard” star Aunjanue Ellis also received a nod for Best Supporting Actress.

“I had to take tennis lessons three times a week for several weeks. They were my least favorite days. Ms. Oracene taught herself so she could teach her daughters, so I had to take lessons. They really were trying their best to get me to approach Ms. Oracene’s tennis genius, and I was just like, “Look, y’all, you hired an actor. Where’s my double? Where is she?” Ellis told Regina King in an interview for Variety.

The movie received a total of six nominations.

We’re rooting for the ladies.
