by Gee NY

She is grace. She is intellect. She is impact. And she is making waves that reach far beyond the borders of Botswana. Meet Bogolo Joy Kenewendo—the economist, policymaker, and global changemaker who continues to redefine what it means to be a Black woman in power.

At just 30 years old, Bogolo etched her name into Botswana’s history books when, in 2018, she became the country’s youngest-ever cabinet minister, serving as Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry.

Today, her influence stretches across continents—from the heart of Gaborone to the halls of the United Nations and the world’s most powerful boardrooms.

But beyond her credentials, what truly captivates is her remarkable blend of beauty, poise, and razor-sharp intellect. Often seen in her signature natural hair and elegant African attire, Bogolo carries herself with a radiant confidence that inspires women across the globe.

She’s a visual reminder that you can lead nations and still show up in your authentic self—fierce, feminine, and unapologetically African.

Bogolo’s journey is as inspiring as it is impactful. Trained as an international economist at the University of Sussex (UK) after graduating from the University of Botswana, she quickly rose through the ranks to become a sought-after global voice on Africa’s economic empowerment, youth leadership, and climate action.

Currently, she serves as the Africa Director for the UN Climate Change High-Level Champions, where she advocates for climate resilience and equitable energy transition across the continent. Her voice is one of urgency and inclusion, pushing for solutions that place African lives—and especially women’s lives—at the center.

She also founded Kenewendo Advisory, a consulting firm focused on sustainable development, and launched Molaya Kgosi, a leadership and mentorship trust for young women and girls.

From Parliament to the World Stage

Even as she’s moved on from her early political appointments, including a special seat in Botswana’s Parliament, Kenewendo’s presence remains magnetic. She’s been recognized as a TIME100 Next Leader, a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, and a trusted advisor on G7 panels, gender equity councils, and digital cooperation networks.

Whether she’s speaking on trade reforms, climate policy, or economic inclusion, Kenewendo speaks with clarity, conviction, and compassion. And she’s not just talking—she’s opening doors and rewriting policies that make life better for millions.

A Black Woman Worth Celebrating

What sets Bogolo apart is how she carries the world on her shoulders—with grace. She isn’t just building a legacy for herself; she’s building a future for African women and girls, where possibilities are limitless and power looks like them.

In a world that too often tries to pit beauty against brilliance, Kenewendo stands tall as proof that a woman can be both and more. She’s not just a face of progress. She’s the architect of it.
