Cardi B is not backing down after receiving a wave of backlash for calling her own fans “fat as f-ck” during an Instagram Live. She’s making it clear that she has no intention of apologizing.
It all started on August 1 when a fan pointed out that the 3XL-sized t-shirts for Cardi’s upcoming album, Am I the Drama?, had sold out in record time. The comment came while Cardi was reacting to news that all her 3XL T-shirts for her upcoming album merch sold out in record time. Apparently, those shirts vanished faster than a Popeyes chicken sandwich in 2019.
The “WAP” hitmaker was shocked and took to Instagram Live to address the situation. That’s when she made the comments that have the internet in a frenzy.
“We really underestimated the box sets,” Cardi said. “So the box sets are completely sold out, especially because you fat f-cks, clearly you guys are fat as f-ck, no Chick-fil-A for y’all.”
As the heat rose around her comments, the GRAMMY winner doubled down and stood firm on her statements. While enjoying a large Chick-fil-A beverage, she declared her livestream a “body-shaming space.”
“I could body shame people ’cause y’all body-shame me,” she explained. “If y’all body shame me, I could body shame y’all. This is a body-shaming space.”
Cardi made it clear she wasn’t apologizing, calling the comment a joke and pointing out that everyone, including her, gets roasted on the internet
She continued by saying that calling someone “fat” isn’t a big deal and that people talk about her BBL all the time. Her unapologetic response has sparked a heated debate online, with many people divided on her comments. Some fans are defending her, saying that she was just joking, while others are calling her “fatphobic” and demanding an apology.
But it seems like Cardi B is going to do what Cardi B does best: say what she wants and not give a damn about what anyone else thinks.
