The Chicago Sky’s turbulent 2025 WNBA season just got more complicated.

Following their ninth loss of the year—a 70-52 defeat to the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday night, June 21—the team has announced that star forward Angel Reese is officially listed on the injury report for the first time this season.

The Sky, now sitting at 3-10, were beaten by Atlanta Dream 93-80 on Sunday in the second leg of a difficult back-to-back.

Reese, a 2024 WNBA All-Star and one of the team’s most consistent performers this year, is questionable with a leg injury, according to team reporter Karli Bell.

Reese had put together a strong four-game stretch before Saturday’s game, but her impact against Phoenix was unusually limited. She attempted just one shot—a season low—in a quiet outing for the second-year forward.

After the loss, interim head coach Tyler Marsh responded to questions about pulling his starters early. He pointed to the lopsided score but also noted that multiple players are “banged up” and the coaching staff is being cautious with player workloads during the tight schedule.

While the full extent of Reese’s injury remains unknown, her absence—if she doesn’t play—would be a major blow for a Sky team trying to break out of a tough stretch. Chicago has lost five of its last six games, and Reese has been a major force on both ends of the court.

On a more positive note, guard Moriah Jefferson is set to make her season debut on Sunday, which could offer a spark to the rotation in Reese’s potential absence.

All eyes will be on pregame updates from the Sky to see whether Reese takes the court. Her leadership and presence have been key to Chicago’s few wins this season—and her health may prove pivotal in whether the team can regain momentum.
