Pop singer Ciara has canceled an upcoming concert in Texasamid growing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

Ciara says that her doctor advised her to cancels shows and events containing large groups of people.

“With the continued spread of the coronavirus throughout the U.S., as a pregnant woman, my doctors have advised me to limit travel and large group gatherings,” Ciara said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “I am disappointed I won’t be able to return this month to the place where I was born, Ft. Hood, Texas, and put on the amazing show we had planned.”

“I look forward to being able to bring it to you at a later date in 2020,” Ciara continued. “I want to thank the USO and the entire community at Ft. Hood for extending your hospitality to myself and my team. I urge everyone to be diligent in taking steps to stay healthy and safe!”

Her statement comes as the announcement that the inaugural SXSW Festival in Texas would be canceled after a slew of major brands dropped out.

“We are devastated to share this news with you,” organizers wrote on the SXSW website, adding that they would “faithfully follow the City’s directions.”.

“‘The show must go on’ is in our DNA, and this is the first time in 34 years that the March event will not take place. We are now working through the ramifications of this unprecedented situation.”

Confirmed cases of the coronavirus around the world passed 100,000 Friday.
